Downstream petroleum, built for Australia.

Queensland Downstream is developing domestic petroleum processing capability to serve Australia's resource economy and strengthen sovereign fuel security.

Processing Capability

Queensland Downstream develops downstream petroleum processing infrastructure designed for the long-term demands of Australia's resource sector. Our focus is on the processing capability the country needs — built methodically, deployed thoughtfully, and operated for decades.

Technical design, operational specifications, and commercial structuring are shared with counterparties and partners under confidentiality. Further detail will be published as the business progresses.

Australia's Fuel Position

The strategic context for Queensland Downstream is the structural fragility of Australia's liquid fuel supply chain. The country imports approximately 90% of its requirements, holds limited domestic refining capacity, and remains heavily exposed to international supply disruptions and shipping route risk.

This is not a temporary condition. It is a long-term feature of how Australia currently meets its fuel needs — and one of the strongest cases for investment in domestic downstream capability.
